Just as I was thinking to myself, "man, it's been so long since test-No. have put out any kind of footage, what a bummer," I checked a fan blog and noticed the UStream link.

It's all for Chain the Rock. I have no idea if they're broadcasting everything or just the main acts, but this is cool! The live streaming trend is really taking hold with everyone, western and Japanese bands alike.

Okay. I found the Glamorous Honey single "Brilliant Honey" on a J-Rock downloads blog. For no reason other than the fact that nearly everything else on the blog I liked, I decided to try them. I dig them. I knew nothing about them. I googled them just now to change that. Oh, cool. Yuuki (ex-Elldorado)! I used to like them. K? Is that Aya from New Sodmy? Huh, another guy I like, okay. That's cool.

And then GTFO, I find this. THEY EVEN PRODUCE TOGETHER. WHAT THE HELL. I didn't know they even produced!

I go out on a limb, thinking I'm being brave and being proud of myself for following a link into the unknown for once, and look what happens. They are my own personal Big Brother. That's it. There's no other explanation.

I have to be careful about what I say in future.

So I grabbed my bag of pretzels that I left open all night, unthinkingly, and LO AND BEHOLD I did not even realise what the chemical smell was until I had a MOUTHFUL OF ANTS.

I have also come to the conclusion that between the hours of 12 and 6AM I cannot be anything but totally and utterly, twistedly insane. Seriously. I'm crackers. A nutjob. An anteater. EW. ... Maybe I'm just crazy all the time, and my censor just shuts down during those hours.

I only excuse Tetsu from being present because he had a live. OTHERWISE he would have been getting some pissed off sounding mail asking WHY THE LITTLE TYKE was not out seeing his brothers play and hanging with the old one off-side.


Just as a random note... I'm really, really stressed out right now over some personal/family problems. And I guess I'm feeling kinda sensitive, so... just go easy on me with the personal snarking and the teasing. I know it's meant to be in good fun but I can't handle it like I usually would right now, OKAY. (Now I totally have to go listen to You Make Me Touch Your Hands For Stupid Reasons.)

All these Third Stage-sent flyers are kind of a waste on me. I don't know 99.9% of the bands, and the 0.01% I do, I don't like them. Wtf, do people sell these? I have dozens from this time and when I bought all that L'Arc stuff from them like two or three years ago. There's no point in keeping them.

And I wonder what Laser Disc players realistically go for? ... Maybe it's cheaper just to get them put on DVD, too. From what I can tell, the average price is about $20 for the first hour of footage and $10 for each additional hour... but I wouldn't want to send them to some online service without knowing where they're really going and so on. Who the hell thought LDs were a good idea? At least the Beta thing, I can understand from a compact POV, but 30cm video discs? ... Well.

Part of my birthday present, hurhur. Maybe not the wisest choice, but... hey.


I forgot The L Word had started up again properly. 4 episodes in one night later, and I am ALREADY NOT PLEASED.

And yet, I love it and am highly entertained despite Jenny's diva attitude (gaaawd she's started to remind me of Emma during her bitchy, holier than thou moments and that just grates on me even more) and... god, just... so many plotlines that I wish had not taken the turns they have.


For some reason, though, whenever I'm watching it I get struck with all kinds of fun non-AU ideas that aren't even ripped from their scripts. I just get inspired. AND THIS SEASON SO FAR ISN'T EVEN IMPRESSIVE. It's funny. Maybe that's why I can stay tuned into it. I can get hooked on things that most people think are lame/stupid/boring/whatever just because I find some redeeming qualities in them.

Funny how I could never stay interested in Queer as Folk, though. I'm still like, "SNOOORE."


Randomly, because I'm hooked on this, I finally managed to get enough of the lyrics out of the intro song to the Zigzo Night live to find out what it was.

Dad will be very proud of me. I'm not crazy about the more noise-focused side of Pink Floyd, but stuff like this I really get into. I can hear the influence in Zigzo something fierce, and it just amuses me that this song is older than at least 3 out of 4 of the members. Possibly even all four, depending on when it was released in '69. It was cute how Ryo and Den had a little rock out session on their respective stage sides while setting up to this.

I am seriously, seriously hooked on this, and the way Ryo sings it, the breathy, slightly gravelly texture he uses in the chorus, the echo distortion on the guitar, the mellow, smooth bassline... ughhh, I have to listen to it again. I'm so impressed by their eclectic style. Every mini-album is so different, no label can really fit after all. I GUESS THIS IS WHY THEY'RE CALLED TEST-NO. While I'm not that excited about Kaede's drumming, I like it better than Matarou's and I can't help but wonder what it'd sound like if Kaede had done it. Matarou's always reminded me of the tin soldier. TIN TIN TIN. His drumkit should be called Captain Haddock. I'm not going any further into that.


nil have a new mini-album coming out in March, and it made me all happy to see Tetsu having sold out some of his solo gigs. I hope Lion Heads or SOAP will get their asses moving on something... I mean, within reason. I'd like to see something before the end of the year but it would also be unsurprising if Sakura took it easy. It sounded like the Space Filters gig went well, and apparently the dressing room was filled with dirty jokes, so... not too worried.


ETA: AHHH I know where the familiarity is coming from. Ryo plays a similar riff during Tetsu's guitar solo in Kurayamide Sunglass.

Of those three... his website is the least hideous. That's saying something, isn't it.

I'm also slightly annoyed because I think we got to hear Iteki (the side project band that features Kiba of Gargoyle on vocals, Ryo on guitar, Maeda Kazutomo of Shame/Guruguru Eigakan on bass, Takafumi of KING on drums) on the Livecast show, but Audio Hijack Pro (which almost didn't record it at all because Dad stripped the applications from Mum's computer and I had to run around like a nutcase to install it and set it up in time) decided that the hour long show should be 8.6MB and dropped the quality to the lowest possible.

Although, I think it's actually a fault with the computer itself rather than that app, because before I got my laptop back it had started to chew on the sound and spit out a fuzzy, tinny quality for everything. But on Mum's account, it was fine. Strange. I should have recorded it on her side rather than opening mine when I knew there were problems. OH WELL. ITEKI IS ITEKI, EVEN AT WHAT IS APPARENTLY 8KBPS. They sound rather like Gargoyle, understandably. I wonder what the odds are of being able to get ahold of their stuff if/when it comes? Hmm. I'll keep my eye out.

They sound very excited about it, at any rate. It was the most relaxed show I'd heard... and they were loud, and laughed a lot. Motoki is kinda high pitched. I'll upload it, but as usual, I doubt anyone but Kash and I really care about listening to an hour of Kiba and Ryo speaking with Abba mixed in as the background music and, this time, a tribute segment to the vocalist of Tokyo Yankees (R.I.P.) ... and frequent references to Kamen Rider.

Now that I've had my metal fix (MUHKEEKEE, MUHKEEKEE), it's time to watch the DVD I borrowed from the library.

... My Little Pony: The Movie. The good one! You know, with Danny Devito and the smooze. ... Yeah, I know. I showed how much of a geek I was when I pointed out that of the ponies they chose to use on the cover art, one of them is hardly a main character and makes like, a three second appearance, and Mum looked at me with this... look... that could only be described as, "... What have I raised."
